In October 2025, during the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbaeva, held a meeting with the Secretary General of the IPU, Martin Chungong.
The parties discussed the current state and future prospects of cooperation between the Parliament of Uzbekistan and the IPU, as well as practical steps to further strengthen inter-parliamentary ties. Special attention was given to the implementation of the Tashkent Declaration and the follow-up tasks arising from it.
During the meeting, a model agreement was signed on hosting the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in September 2026 in Samarkand.
This initiative, proposed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, aims to expand global dialogue and cooperation among young parliamentarians.
Martin Chungong noted that the signing of this agreement represents a logical continuation of the trusting and productive cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
